"People who purchase a candidate's button and know that their preferences are being measured will probably vote and vote for that candidate, said Jim Warlick, originator and owner of the online button poll. Warlick says his company's poll gives a more accurate reading for the election outcome than many polls which rely solely on telephone interviews. The online polling project (www.usabuttonpoll.com) grew out of tallying national campaign button sales from dozens of retail locations during the four previous presidential elections. The poll has reported election outcomes accurately in 1988, 1992, 1996, and 2000 and has been featured by USATODAY, CNN, MSNBC, BBC, Washington Post, International Herald Tribune and the Washington Times, among others..
